Sophie Rigaux

I’m a student at the Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts in Brussels in painting. Lately, I leaned into landscapes in pastel. Landscapes that are almost dreamy of the mystic realm. My drawings are a pretext for encounter, conversation and the sharing of sensitive experiences with my Beloved. Poetic language is an integral part of my thinking. It can take shape as poetic writing as such or as poetic writing into an image. The meaning instilled in the image is more important than its representation. A representation beyond the vaporous, vibrant landscape… the analogous representation of a metaphor and a symbol, for example, the analogy of the river. “He measured off another thousand cubits and led me through water that was knee-deep. He measured off another thousand and led me through water that was up to the waist.” Ezekiel 47:4
I’d be happy to share a few words with you if you’d like. I will end with this verse that stirs my heart with a consuming fire. “My heart is stirred by a noble theme as I recite my verses for the king; my tongue is the pen of a skillful writer. You are the most excellent of men and your lips have been anointed with grace, since God has blessed you forever.” Psalm 45:2-3
